HELP FOR SEVERELY CHALLENGED READERS

Some children with severe reading problems do not respond to phonics instruction. These students are not successful in using phonics as a strategy for reading. Such students are not phonetic readers. Teachers can help these severely challenged readers learn to read and write by teaching them basic sight vocabulary words.
